I AM DEDICATING THIS POEM TO ALL THE NURSES
BY LOURDES TOVAR, RNC [email protected]
I WAS MERELY TWENTY SOMETHING,
WHEN I STARTED MY CAREER.
NURSING WAS MY DREAM
AND NOW IT IS MY FEAR
CARING FOR THE CHILDREN IS MY PASSION
AND MY THRILL,
BUT POLITICS BEHIND IT IS
NOTHING BUT A DRILL.
IT IS TIRING AND STRESSFUL,
EVERYTHING BUT HELPFUL.
NEARLY 25 YEARS LATER,
I CAN FINALLY UNDERSTAND,
THOSE WHO I CAME AFTER
AND THE FALLOUTS
THAT THEY HAD
NURSING WAS MY DREAM,
AND NOW IT IS MY BURN OUT FEAR.
INSPITE OF ALL THE POLITICS,
NURSING IS STILL MY CAREER
