What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome – Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a disorder caused by extreme fatigue or tardiness. It doesn’t go away with the rest and sleep and it cannot be explained by an underlying medical condition. It gets worse with passing time to the place where you will not be able to stand up for good 10 minutes. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome can affect anyone; however, it is most common among women who are in their 40s and 50s.

What can cause CFS?

The CFS cause is unresolved. It is not caused by any particular infection. It could be caused by some of the viruses like Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), human herpes virus 6, Ross River virus (RRV), rubella, Coxiella Burnetti, and mycoplasma.

Chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms can limit the everyday activities someone can enjoy as well as affect other parts of their life including work, family, and friends.

Symptoms of CFS:

  • The symptoms of CFS may include:
  • Frequent headaches
  • Memory loss
  • Depression and Allergies
  • Tender lymph nodes in your neck and armpits
  • Feeling under rest even after a night’s sleep
  • Multijoint pain without redness or swelling
  • Chronic insomnia (and other sleep disorders)
  • Muscle pain

You may also experience the illness or fatigue after physical or mental activities. This can last for at-least 22 hours and in worst case scenario it could last for more than 24 hours after the activity. People are sometimes affected by CFS in cycles, with the stages of feeling worse than better and then the worst. Symptoms may sometimes even disappear completely (remission). However, the chances of relapse are still there. The cycle of remission and relapse can make it difficult to manage your daily schedule.
